Ms Downie visit to Toronto July 14 08

Ms Joyce Downie was the Form Mistress of Form IIC in 1963. She was only 21 years old then. She left BHJS in 1966 and was the Form Mistress of Form VA that year. She met her husband, Peter Chapman, at Christ Church and got married in Brisbane, Australia in 1967. She has 3 grown children. Joyce and Peter live in Queensland, Australia. Here is a journal by Irene Tsai describing our dinner with the Chapmans.

Hi guys,
One good thing after another. Well, July must be a lucky month as there will be yet another fun day to look forward to when Mui Lai Yee and Kwong Hoi Chau get into town on Wed, only 2 days from now. Hey, we will be doing lunch, dinner, karaoke with a live band after dinner with them. Good food, great company and fantastic summer weather is here now. Boys and girls, please bear in mind that Toronto is a damn good place to visit especially during summer and autumn months.

I just got back from the special dinner with Ms. Downie and her hubby, Peter Chapman. They are a wonderful couple and it was a real piece of cake to entertain them as they are such easy going folks, very appreciative, well travelled and definitely young at heart. Naturally, we took them to a nice Chinese restaurant (Asian Legends) to enjoy the spicey northern dishes and to yak about our yester years. May Ho brought her b/w Jubilee photo album along and Ms. Downie also came prepared with her family pictures to show and tell at the table. It was a fun dinner gathering even though there were only 6 of us in total. Geeze, I wish there had been more people there with us tonight, but understanding summer months are very busy months for all with numerous family excursions and earlier commitments. Anyway, I am attaching a picture for everyone to take a good look at our not-much changed former English teacher, Ms. Downie.

Have a good one!
Ciao,
Irene Tsai
After dinner, I escorted the Chapmans back to their hotel via subway. We had a nice chat on the way and it was such a nice summer evening that I wished the weather can stay like that all year round. The Chapmans flew back to Milwaukee the next morning to continue their vacation with their family. Until the next time, take care everybody, and have fun.

Mui & Kwong Hit Toronto

Just a couple of random pictures of the party animals tonight in Toronto for your perusal. We had abundant sumptuous food and drinks (courtesy of Ms. Microsoft from NYC, Mui Lai Yee, a.k.a. Mui-Por) with an ongoing live band in the background. I was having so much fun yakking the whole time that I had almost lost sight of my favourite dessert which was just sitting right in front of my eyes! No, I wasn't stoned, but admittedly got a bit carried away by the fun and dynamic conversations between the happy party animals at the long table. And, upon popular demand, Cheung Kwok Ying finally went up to the podium to sing karaoke for us. What was that song called again? [Was it Anne Murray's I just fall in love again?]
Haha! Tsui Sun Man promised to be the fat lady at our next gathering. Hey, I've bookmarked it already.

Calgary Reunion

This reunion picture is taken by Fred Cheng at the home of Joshua & Christina on 11 July 2008. Can you recognize all the jolly classmates and their spouses coming from Hong Kong, New York, Toronto and Edmonton to take part in this reunion organized by Pauline and co-hosted by Fiona and Joshua in Calgary?
